What pulls you out of bed? A lesson from my little gurus!

It’s been awhile since I wrote about my 2 year old guru. Believe me, there hasn’t been a shortage of amazing lessons! However, this morning… I had to just jump onto my computer after this aha!

Today at 6am… I was once again taught a new lesson.

Let me just give you a little background…

Every morning, my son gets up at 6am while my daughter (the original 2 year old guru) sleeps in. We literally need to pull her out of her bed on weekdays to get her to preschool. While she is there, she loves it! But getting her moving quickly is like pulling teeth!

The funny (or not so funny) thing is that she has no problem getting up early on a weekend when we want to sleep in!

Anyway, this morning, they both got up at 6am and were estatic to get going…

They grabbed their own clothes and both got ready!!!

Reason?

A field trip to the composting yard! I know, not that exciting… but to these toddlers it is something new.

Lesson: When you have a compelling reason to get out of bed… you will jump out!

So how do I bring this into my 38 years?

I make sure that I remember to break out of my routine and remember to give myself compelling reasons.

In other words, set goals or rewards that I’m excited about and can’t wait to do!

Yes, I have goals like… I do this for my family or I do this for our future… but it is important to “interrupt the pattern from time to time” and shift the energy into something new… something that pulls you forward.

Be it a day at the composting yard…. or perhaps a reward of a massage, a bike ride on your own or weekend get away at the lake.
